RACES stands for:  Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services. The K4CCR, Catawba County RACES, was formed in 1958 to help serve our local communities with communications needs, when other forms of communications fail or are failing, during a disaster or local emergency. RACES guidelines and mandates established by local Emergency Management officials. RACES members are the only Amateur Radio operator

RACES members are trained in the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and Incident Command System (ICS). We host weekly radio nets to practice and train to prepare for local disasters should one occur.  You can check-in/participate in our net weekly on Thursdays @ 8:00pm on 147.075 MHz, + offset (147.675) and 88.5 tone.  Check our Facebook page out at: https://www.facebook.com/K4CCR.
