Catawba County RACES was formed in 1958 to help serve our local communities with communications needs, when other forms of communications fail or are failing, during a disaster or local emergency. RACES guidelines and mandates established by local Emergency Management officials. RACES members are the only Amateur Radio operators authorized to transmit on needed frequencies during emergencies.
RACES members are trained in the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and use Incident Command System (ICS) protocols. We host weekly radio nets to act as practice and training events to prepare for local disasters should one occur. Check our Facebook page out at: https://www.facebook.com/CatawbaRACES.
